The Abbey Falls is an attractive location to visit near Madikeri, in the southern state of Karnataka. Best Time to Visit
The falls can be seen filled with water right after the monsoon seasons, i.e. around the months of July to October. During this time, the water falls from a height of 21 meters into the deep gorge. Visiting at any other time of the year would lead to disappointment as the water level decreases a lot and there would be almost nothing to look at.
How to Reach
This breathtaking location is located at about 10 kilometers from Madikeri which is in Coorg. The nearest airport to this famous tourist spot is the Mangalore International Airport at about 130 kilometers away. Mysore, which is 120 kilometers away, has got the nearest railway station to this spot. Reaching this by road is the most common activity undertaken by visitors as it has got a scenic view all along the way. There are good bus facilities to this location from Bangalore, Mysore and other major cities.

- It was formerly known as the Jessi Falls, named after the wife of a British officer who lived in the area.
- The falls are located within a private property of coffee and spices which mainly includes cardamom as well as black pepper.
- The forest area which was present long before was bought by Neravanda B. Naniah who later totally converted it into coffee plantations of the region.
