Auli, present in the Himalayan state of Uttarkhand, is a popular destination for skiers. Offering panoramic views of the Himalayan region, Auli is usually frequented by both amateur and professional skiers. April to June

The summer in Auli has a temperature averaging a mild 15 degrees. The mesmerizing views of the mountainous region can be enjoyed by trekking and sightseeing. The mountainous peaks of Nanda Devi, Kamat Kamet and Ghori Parbat can imbibe a feeling of tranquil any person. Hiking to Gurso Bugyal, and a visit to the Gorson Reserve Forest, which is contained in the Nanda Devi National Park are also some activities to be carried out during this time of the year.

July to September

Auli experiences a mild rainfall during this time. This is also the best time to trek to Kwani Bugyal present at an altitude of 3380 meters. The majestic rawness of the mountain has made this popular amongst toursits.  The festival of Mata Mruti ka Mela, which is conducted in Badrinath during the month of September, spreads its infectious liveliness all throughout Auli. This is the best time to get to know the culture, way of life and spirit of the locality.

November to March

The winter is when the place is alive with tourists vying for a great skiing affair. The temperature drops to chilling levels and makes the condition perfect for a world class skiing experience. The snowcapped mountains, and the white elegance of the place is yet another reason to spend the winter here. The flush and the thrill of skiing is a must to be experienced among adventure tourists. The Skiing festival and the National Championships are also conducted during the month of January to March.

How to Reach

The nearest airport to Auli is the Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which is almost 280 kilometers away from it. The Haridwar railway station is present at a distance of almost 270 kilometers from where a cab can be hired to Auli. It has a good road network which can be accessed easily by cars, buses and jeeps.

Places to Visit

  • Chenab Lake

The Chenab Lake with its calmness is a solitude filled region and gives a feeling of timelessness. The pristinity of the niche is a soul opening affair.

  • Gurso Bugyal

Situated at an altitude of 3056 meters, the greenery of the place with its oaks and conifers is a treat to the eye of the viewer. This area, present in the midst of a thick forest, is usually approached by hiking and trekking.

  • Trishul Peak

The Trishul Peak, located at an elevation of above 7000 meters, can be viewed from the Kausani. The white magnificence is formed from the three mountain peaks of the western Kumaun, and is a splendid phenomenon which should not be missed out.

  • Joshimath

A religious site, Joshimath is one of the four centers established by Adi Shankaracharya. Present near Badrinath, this place also acts as a gateway to the Valley of Flowers National Park.

  • Rudraprayag

One of the five confluences of the Alaknanda River, the Rudraprayag is the gateway to the holy sites of Kedarnath and Badrinath. This place contains a plethora of flora and fauna, and with its calming stillness, provides a soothing experience in itself.
