Perched on top of one of Shimla’s most beautiful peaks, in fact the highest peak in the region, the Jakhoo Temple is famous for its omnipresent deity- Lord Hanuman. Locals believe that Monkey God rested atop the hill while he was flying to the Sanjeevani hills to find the medicine that could save Lord Lakshmana’s life during the Ram-Ravana war.

- Beware of the monkeys because here you can certainly lose your personal belongings.
- Make sure you safely deposit your belongings and shoes in the stalls near the temple or you will not see them again.
- You should definitely carry a stick with you or you might just be attacked!

- You have a lot to do in and around Jakhoo Hills.
- The Ridge– the cultural hub of the state is located a mere 5kms away from the temple.
- Now this is a bit risky but you can feed the monkeys. Just make sure that you don’t spoil them and that your fingers are not bitten off.
- You can pay a visit to the Wax Museum and enjoy some raw creativity.

How to Reach
The temple is located just a few kms away from the Ridge- the cultural hub of Shimla. It is easily accessible by the trains and buses. Get down at the Kalka Railway Station which is only 2kms from the heart of the city. From here you can hire a cab or grab a pony ride to the temple.
