The lake is among the biggest in the city. The very first settlements came to be constructed around the lake. Thus, even today it is the most crowded area. Madiwala lake is lined by bazaars and buildings. The lake is often frequented by pelicans. Many nature enthusiasts come to visit the lake just to get a glimpse of the migratory bird. The lake is under the maintenance of the Karnataka Forest Department. Even though it is surrounded by the hustle and bustle, the lake itself is a place of tranquility.
